What this Blog is About:

This blog is meta. It’s a blog about blogging. Not just a “How to Start a Blog” blog. Rather, a “I’m learning how to blog and I’m documenting my journey” blog. Everything I’ve learned about blogging, my opinions on blogging and the various tools/resources, my trials and tribulations. And my wins (please god, let there be wins).

Who you are:

You’re toying with the idea of making a passive income, and are looking into the world of blogging. You’re intrigued but not sure its worth the hassle. You’ve found internet overwhelming with the amount of information available, most of which is from someone trying to sell you something. You just want to know what the process is really like, from someone who is going through the process in real time.

Well, you’ve come to the right place. At least for now. Because blogs are always evolving, and this one may morph into something else eventually. Or just waste away.

How You’ll Use this Blog:

  1. Subscribe, so you get updates when I publish new content
  2. Read these blog posts. My aim is to have a mix of blog post types –
    • Information and how-tos. Since there’s already a lot said about blogging out there, I imagine these will be pointing you to valuable resources with some input on what worked for me
    • Reviews – of products and materials I’ve used
    • My personal journey – How I’ve personally implemented this blog (and maybe others, if I start them)
  3. Ruminate over the blog posts and evaluate whether the journey is right for you.
  4. If you’re inclined, follow along with creating your own blog. Try what I did or learn from my mistakes. Or try something else entirely. If you find something that worked for you, or something that didn’t, comment and let me know. Hopefully, some other hapless blogger will benefit.

My Story:

I have a full-time job that I love and that pays me well. I’m not looking to quit. I have no delusions that blogging can replace my current income, and I am fully aware that it is hard work.

Yet, the idea of “passive” income does have a certain appeal. I’ve been bingng productivity videos by young professionals on Youtube. What was interesting was that some of them claimed to be making a lot of money from Youtube. Like a lot of money. While still working full time. But putting my face on video is not an option.

Then I was led to a video by a blogger who made close to $10,000 in a single month from her blog. That caught my eye. If she could do it, anyone should be able to do it if they follow the formula, put in the work and stay consistent.

Now I know that those kinds of numbers don’t happen overnight. They are the result of years of dedicating almost every waking hour to creating, maintaining and promoting your blog. I don’t have the time or the inclination to do that. But creating a blog does sound appealing. And learning new techniques and putting them to work to see if they work seems like fun. (I’m a nerd like that).

I picked an industry and a niche (step 1), and I started my research. But then the learnings from “Show York Work” by Austin Kleon (something I learned about from a Youtuber, again) came to mind. While I was learning and experimenting, why not document my journey as well?

And so THIS blog was born. This may be useful to the larger public. Or at least entertaining. And who knows, maybe if I do this right, this blog might just end up replacing my current income.

So now that you’ve come this far – Subscribe and join me on my journey!
